The Golf Course - Local Rules
Last Revised: July 27, 2009.

Protection of Young Trees Identified with Plastic Tubing

If such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or the area of his intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure described in Rule 24-1b (Immovable Obstruction). The ball may be cleaned when lifted under this Local Rule.

Exception: A player may not obtain relief under this Local Rule if:

  1. it is clearly unreasonable for him to make a stroke because of interference by anything other than the tree; or
  2. interference by the tree would occur only through use of an unnecessarily abnormal stance, swing or direction of play.

Rule 24-1b provides for one club length from the nearest point of relief. Note that this Rule does do not offer relief from interference with line of play.

Naturalized Area

Naturalized area defined with stakes with green tops. Entry is prohibited to these areas.

Power Lines / Poles

A ball striking power lines / poles must be replayed, regardless of the outcome, with no penalty.

Out of Bounds

Out of Bounds defined by white stakes and/or lines along bushline right of 6, 7, 8, 9 and left of 15, 16, 17,18.

Carts

All power and pull carts must stay outside all white lines and on paths when available.

Range Finders

As per Decision 14-3/0.5

The Committee has established a Local Rule allowing players to use devices that measure or gauge distance only (Note to Rule 14-3). However, the use of a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player's play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature etc.) is not permitted regardless of whether such an additional function is used and is a breach of Rule 14-3. Penalty for a breach of Rule 14-3 is disqualification.
